Chicago is now the No. 2 U.S. Destination City according to the latest U-Haul migration trends report, maintaining its ranking on last year’s list.

The Windy City saw an 11 percent year-over-year increase in one-way U-Haul truck arrivals in 2017 to remain one of the two busiest cities for incoming traffic among do-it-yourself movers.

Chicago is a walkable city with access to some of the best food in the country,” stated Rick Rottweiler, U-Haul Company of North Shore Chicago president. “It’s truly a destination, and the people lucky enough to live here love their city. Our neighborhoods are charming and there are giant green spaces throughout the city.

“People moving here are looking for an exciting city with family-friendly fun. We have some of the largest festivals in the U.S., and our beaches go for miles. With all of the buildings being refurbished downtown, the city is growing again. U-Haul is eager to make it easy for do-it-yourself movers to transition to Chicago.”

U-Haul has 17 Company-owned stores and 89 independent neighborhood dealers currently operating in the city limits.
