Rand McNally’s New Atlas: Retro and Revitalized

In what seems like a nod to nostalgia, Rand McNally has released a new edition of its Motor Carriers’ Road Atlas for professional drivers.

The company notes that it is “packed with truck-navigable routes, state and province restrictions, as well as low clearance locations, the atlas continues to be a go-to resource for over-the-road drivers.”

With GPS systems a mainstay in all vehicles — commercial, consumer and even biking, running and swinning — Rand McNally touts that: “Despite advancements in technology for the truck and cab, many drivers still prefer to use a printed atlas for navigation. A recent survey conducted at the Mid-America Trucking Show found that a majority of drivers use the printed product, and at least 15 percent of those surveyed use the Motor Carriers’ Road Atlas as their primary navigational tool.”

Our take: It’s retro but also revitalized.
