The Post Capital Partners’ portfolio company enhances its leadership team to accelerate the strategic expansion of its attractive Load-to-Ride service within its existing and new geographies

Smith Transportation Services, LLC, a national full-service third-party logistics & asset-light transportation services provider, and a portfolio company of Post Capital Partners, is excited to announce the appointment of Jonathan Adams to its industry-leading management team as Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Adams has spent his entire 25-year career in the Transportation & Logistics industry as an investment banker, strategic advisor, board member, operational leader, and consultant. He has previously led the Transportation & Logistics Advisory Teams at Houlihan Lokey, Sterne Agee & Leach, and Deloitte. Adams also served as President & Chief Executive Officer of SeaCo Ltd where he led the company from bankruptcy in 2009 until its sale in 2011 to HNA Group of China, in a transaction that crystallized highly attractive returns for its investors.

“After a thorough search, we are thrilled to find someone of Jonathan’s energy, skills and experience to lead Smith Transportation,” commented Sam Woodward, an Executive Partner of Post Capital and a Board Member and advisor to Smith Transportation. “Jonathan combines outstanding leadership skills with a deep strategic understanding of the transportation and logistics industry and an impressive network of partner relationships built over a 25-year career working with and advising some of the world’s leading transportation & logistics companies. We are excited to have him at the helm of Smith Transportation.”

Michael Pfeffer, Managing Director of Post Capital Partners, added, “Post Capital’s Executive First strategy is all about combining world class talent with high growth-potential companies. In the case of Smith Transportation, we worked with Sam, a seasoned transportation executive with over 30 years’ industry experience, to identify and acquire Smith Transportation in September 2018 in partnership with its existing management team, led by President and COO Steve Smith. We are confident that adding an executive with Jonathan’s background and experience will accelerate the growth we are experiencing at Smith Transportation and further enhance the returns to our investors. We are excited to welcome him to the team.”

Adams commented, “The Covid-19 pandemic has added even greater pressure to shippers who were already struggling to meet the requirements of today’s eCommerce customers, including faster delivery, lower costs and greater shipment visibility. Smith Transportation’s highly innovative freight consolidation model creates incredible efficiencies for its customers by combining multiple pallet load shipments at its terminal facilities in New York/New Jersey, Southern California and Florida into full truckload shipments that can then be shipped across the USA at both faster and at significantly lower costs than traditional Less-than-Truckload shipments. I am very excited by the potential of Smith Transportation and really excited by the opportunity to contribute to its future success.”
