Stertil-Koni’s Radu Pop Named Chair of New TMC Task Force
The goal of the policy committee is to develop best practices to safely use vehicle lifting systems and related equipment
Heavy duty hydraulic bus lift and truck lift leader, Stertil-Koni, announced that the company’s Business Development Manager, Radu Pop, has been named chairman of a new Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) task force, the Technology & Engineering Policy Committee.
TMC supports the American Trucking Association with research, analysis and policy development – all with a stated purpose to “improve transport equipment, its maintenance and maintenance management.”
The goal of the policy committee is to develop best practices to safely use vehicle lifting systems and related equipment.
In making today’s announcement, Pop stated, “We are focusing on all aspects that are paramount for the busy technician on the shop floor: safety, ergonomics and productivity. Being a TMC member for more than five years and observing a severe shortage of diesel technicians has prompted our objective to improve working conditions for those who deserve it most – the ones who keep the industry running.”
Pop further noted that while technicians receive ongoing training and specialized tools for their jobs, the majority still work in confined spaces, either on creepers under partially raised vehicles or in pits.
The committee, comprised of trucking industry and education professionals, will develop guidelines to assist shop managers in selecting the appropriate lifting systems for specific medium and heavy duty vehicle maintenance operations.
Concluded Pop, “In vehicle servicing, safety is always priority number one. That is precisely why our approach will be to expand on existing protocols and advance safe environments for vehicle repair and maintenance technicians on the job.”
