Truckers ask feds for update on broker abuse petition

| October 3, 2022

OOIDA originally filed a petition with FMCSA in May 2020 to improve broker transparency

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association sent this letter to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration today asking for the status of a petition that garnered more than 1,500 comments from small-business truckers nearly two years ago.

OOIDA filed a petition with FMCSA in May 2020 to improve broker transparency. Not only does access to contractual documents protect carriers from unscrupulous brokers, it helps to protect the public by providing a marketplace in which each party behaves in a clear and transparent manner.

OOIDA has long fought to protect members’ rights to access contractual documents
guaranteed to them under federal regulations. Not only does access to these documents protect
carriers from unscrupulous brokers, it helps to protect the public by providing a marketplace in
which each party behaves in a clear and transparent manner. Over the past two years, have
called upon the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to protect our members,
guarantee transparency, and improve accountability. OOIDA wrote to request an update on
FMCSA’s progress in addressing these issues.

Read the letter here for more information and let us know if you would like to speak with a representative about details on the issue.
