Women In Trucking Foundation Awards 16 Scholarships

Women In Trucking Foundation has awarded 16 scholarships from the summer application group, totaling $5,850.

In 2018 alone, the 501(c)3 non-profit organization has awarded 23 scholarships to recipients in the trucking industry for their educational training.

The Women In Trucking Foundation congratulates these women on focusing their futures on careers in the trucking industry.

  • Alexandra Buchanan – enrolled at Ohio Technical College, Cleveland, OH. Awarded the WIT Foundation/Ryder Scholarship for her diesel technician training.
  • Ana Silva Biscaia— enrolled at the University of Wisconsin, Superior, WI. Awarded the WIT Foundation Scholarship for transportation and logistics management training.
  • Angell May– enrolled at Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem NC. Awarded the WIT Foundation/Ryder Scholarship for her diesel technician training.
  • Cedra Talaga—enrolled at IITR Truck School in Central Point, OR. Awarded the WIT Foundation/Jan Hamblin Scholarship for her CDL training.
  • Esther Namatovu—enrolled at the Uganda Mobile Computer Training Association in Kampala Uganda, Africa. Awarded the WIT Foundation Scholarship for her leadership training.
  • Jazmyn Webster—enrolled at Sage Truck Driving School in Cheyenne, WY. Awarded the WIT Foundation/Ryder Scholarship for her CDL training.
  • Jodie Spencer—enrolled at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, IN. Awarded the WIT Foundation Scholarship for her MBA training.
  • Kendall Trujillo—enrolled at Universal Technical Institute in Avondale, AZ. Awarded the WIT Foundation Scholarship for her technician training.
  • Lauren Melton—enrolled at Florence Darlington Technical College in Florence, SC. Awarded the WIT Foundation/Ryder Scholarship for her CDL training.
  • Merissa Hill— enrolled at Universal Technical Institute in Orlando, FL. Awarded the WIT Foundation/Ryder Scholarship for her diesel mechanic training.
  • Micaela Duran— enrolled at Universal Technical Institute in Avondale, AZ. Awarded the WIT Foundation/Ryder Scholarship for her diesel mechanic training.
  • Noelle Parlier Onstad—enrolled at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM. Awarded the WIT Foundation Scholarship for her MBA training.
  • Pamela Stone—enrolled at Kirkwood Community College in Hiawatha, IA. Awarded the WIT Foundation Scholarship for her accounting/business training.
  • Sadie Smith—enrolled Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville, OK. Awarded the WIT Foundation Scholarship for her strategic leadership training.
  • Tara McClure – enrolled at Murray State University in Murray, KY. Awarded the WIT Foundation Scholarship for her business management training.
  • Undral Naran— enrolled at the University of Wisconsin, Superior, WI. Awarded the WIT Foundation Scholarship for transportation and logistics management training.

Scholarship applications are now being accepted through January 31, 2018. Scholarships are awarded in four areas:  technical, safety, leadership and commercial driving.

Donations and fund raising events within the trucking industry make it possible to provide scholarships to deserving individuals.

“This past year represents the largest number of scholarships awarded by the Women in Trucking Foundation annually, which we could not have achieved without the generosity of so many individuals and corporate grants,” said Debora Babin Katz, VP of TrucBrush Corporation and the chair of Women in Trucking Foundation.

“Our mission to forward the careers of women in transportation is global; we awarded a scholarship to a student in Uganda,” she said.
