Daimler Anticipated to Consolidate North American HQ in Portland
According to industry sources, Daimler Trucks North America is expected to announce that the company is consolidating its North American headquarters in Portland — a major economic win for the region.
Apparently the company has been in discussions with economic development leaders about building a new headquarters building next to is existing building (on Swan Island) in return for city and state incentives.
Previously, rumors had swirled that the company was potentially moving to the Carolinas.
As part of the new move and building, it is anticipated that hundreds of higher-paying jobs will be created. Sources report that Daimler’s current executive and support team in in Portland, currently includes approximately 800 engineers.
